KATE WOOD BICYCLE
The every day routine can be hectic. Spending each morning fighting traffic or the daily battle underground on the metro adds stress. Founder of Kate Wood Originals, Pim Gietelink, takes a piece of Dutch culture with him all over the world by cycling. From commuting to work to bringing children to school, bicycles are a deep-rooted part of Dutch life and the standard for transportation regardless of one’s background in Holland. More than just exercise, cycling gives you time to clear your mind and freedom on the road.
Kate Wood Originals believes everyone must do its part in conserving the environment for the next generation. By combining sustainable materials and simple and modern design, the Kate Wood Originals bamboo bicycles are our way of doing our part.

THE BAMBOO PROCESS
How strong is a bamboo bike?
When many people think of a bamboo bike, they probably think of a primitive, weak, easy-to-break bicycle that people only used hundreds of years ago.
While the first patented bamboo bicycle can be traced back to England in 1894, the rest of these assumptions could not be further than the truth. Bamboo bicycles have remarkable durability, and they are used to carry heavy loads in many places around the world. Because bamboo is such a light material, you might be surprised to hear that bamboo is actually quite durable and incredibly strong.
You might be wondering just how strong a bamboo bike could actually be. Would it shock you to find out that it is actually stronger than steel?
This is because bamboo is made from interwoven fibers, providing more flexibility and tensile strength than many other materials, including steel. In fact, the tensile strength of bamboo can be as much as 3-4 times that of steel. Bamboo also has a high compressive strength, meaning that it is resistant to breaking under pressure or compression. With an impressive tensile strength of 28,000 pounds per square inch In addition to the bamboo bike’s strength, bamboo bikes have several other advantages over other types of bike materials:
While bamboo might not look the part, it is certainly one of the strongest and most durable materials that can be used for bicycle frames. If you invest in a bike made from bamboo, you will be able to enjoy a smooth ride for many years to come.
KATE WOOD FIXIE
The Kate Wood Originals Fixie has a strong and lightweight bamboo frame that will make you wonder why all bicycles are not made from bamboo. The KW Fixie is so smooth and easy to ride that coffee runs will always be worry-free and fun.
